Description

A healthy church is active in serving victims of injustice and addressing systems of injustice in its community and around the world. A healthy church also equips people to consider not only their responsibility for perpetuating injustice but also their call to engage in works of compassion, mercy, and justice.

Guiding Scripture Passages

Micah 6:8

He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?

Considerations Regarding Your Score

  • What injustice is present in your community? How has your congregation addressed it?
  • What injustice in the world might your church engage in the coming year?
  • How is the congregation growing in their understanding of their responsibility for perpetuating injustice? Have they heard sermons on injustice, engaged in a book study, done biblical work?
  • What works of compassion, mercy and justice has the church done in the last 5 years? What is planned for next year?
