Leader’s Rest

Struggling

Description

In healthy churches, the pastoral leaders regularly take time off work for rest and renewal. They are accountable to the church leadership for doing so and are supported through appropriate funding in the budget. Church members respect the leaders’ times of rest and renewal, relieving them of the ongoing stress of their positions and responsibilities.

Guiding Scripture Passages

Matt. 11:28

“Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.

Considerations Regarding Your Score

  • Do you have a healthy Pastoral Relations team overseeing the well-being of your pastors and staff? Do they make certain the paid leaders take regular time off?
  • What resources are budgeted for conferences and retreats? Have you accessed the Sustaining Pastoral Excellence funding?
  • What symptoms of burnout have you noticed in your pastoral leadership?
  • How have you helped your pastoral leadership to feel valued in the last 3 years?
  • How have you encouraged pastoral rest and renewal?
